Cabela's
Pennsylvania store in Hamburg, PA is the new outdoor gear and apparel
source for the East Coast's finest hunting, fishing and outdoorsmen.
The Cabela's Hamburg PA location was built in 2003 on the intersection
of Interstate 78 and 61 and quickly became one of the largest tourist
attractions in the East Coast. The Cabelas Pennsylvania location
is an easy 2 1/2 hour drive from New York City and an hour drive
northwest of Philadelphia. This Cabela's location in Hamburg also
targets the outdoorsmen of the Poconos, Central and Eastern Pennsylvania.
The Cabela's Hamburg Pennsylvania location boasts
a space of over 250,000 square fee space that houses over six million
visitors each year. Inside the store you'll find a virtual museum
of taxidermy, where visitors to the store can push their shopping
carts filled with hunting and fishing gear while looking around
the store at artificial mountains with caribou, polar bears, rams,
moose and snakes stand above the creek that runs through the center
of the store with gigantic trout and other live fish. Cabela's Pennsylvania
store doesn't stop there though. On the other end of the store there
is a huge simulated African prairie scene with a 12,000 lb elephant,
alligators, lions, hippos and rhinoceros that really give you an
idea of the sheer size of these beasts complete with the survival
instincts these animals have as they struggle to live with one another.
To round out the rest of the exhibits, there is a laser shooting
gallery on the top floor for the kids, a very impressive room just
devoted to the trophy buck. You'll never see a more impressive collection
of deer mounts in one place. The room is populated with dioramas
of deer walking among each other in fall foliage. And lastly, our
favorite is the 55,000 gallon tank of living fish. Kids especially
love this room that is filled from floor to ceiling with bass, bluegill,
trout, pike and carp among other more rare fish.
Are you a serious gun collector? Then you have
to see Cabela's Gun Library in their Pennsylvania store. Here, serious
gun shoppers can browse Cabela's store collection of superior crafted
weaponry and even cradle a rifle to inspect its finely machined
contours. Numerous other features of the Cabela's Pennsylvania store
are an indoor archery range to test out a bow before you buy, a
huge sea of Fishing
Rods, Fly Rods
and lures and countless sections of tents, outdoor footwear, hunting
clothing and sleeping bags, rain wear, duck hunting gear, boats,
knives and survival gear. Looking for Carhartt outdoor apparel?
Cabela's is known for their commitment to quality outdoor sporting
goods so they have everything you need from Carhartt
from jackets to pants to coveralls. It would take hours to go through
just this section and of course there are enormous sections dedicated
to providing hunters and outdoorsmen with the best camouflage clothing,
tree stands and even boats to assist them in their hunting adventures.
Ladies, you don't have to worry that all of
the Cabela's Hamburg location is for the guys either. There are
entire sections in the center of the store dedicated to womens and
kids apparel like Woolrich pull-overs, Columbia
apparel, pants, hats, footwear and jackets to keep warm and be stylish
at the same time. If you are the lucky recipient of your husband's
catch of the day there are great sections of the Cabela's store
that are just for preparation, cooking, marinades and spices to
make that dinner extra great. The Pennsylvania Cabelas also has
sections of the store to dress the kids up for outdoor fun and to
let them join in. If you've seen all you want for the day, do what
a lot of families like to do and stop by in nearby downtown Hamburg
to shop, grab a cup of coffee or a bite to eat at one of the many
downtown restaurants and sandwich shops.
In short, the store in enormous. It is a fabulous
place to visit even if you never fished or hunted before. The sheer
size of the Cabelas Pennsylvania store is awe inspiring and can
take you up to four hours to see every corner of the store. The
fish exhibits and the ability of the taxidermy artists to recreate
the action of the wild is really something to see. Kids love the
trout stream and the aquariums and the exhibits. Best of all, if
the kids are getting hungry you don't have to even leave the store.
The Hamburg Cabela's store also has a restaurant on the second floor
that overlooks the Conservation mountain. The food is good and the
service is great. When everyone's done there's a homemade sweets
section next door that has candy, fudge and other sweet treats to
eat there or take home.
